SHPE DC - Scholarship Program
The SHPE DC Scholarship for Students and Recent Graduates is targeted for high school seniors, college students, and recent graduates (within 12 months of graduating) seeking financial aid in obtaining a STEM degree or pursuing a STEM professional development opportunity.
SHPE DC - DMV STEM Grant Program
The SHPE DC STEM Education Grant accepts applications on a rolling basis. The purpose of this award is for STEM related educational activities. Examples include teachers seeking funds for a STEM classroom activity, students seeking funding for a Space Camp, FIRST robotics teams seeking funding for their projects, SHPE Jr. chapters seeking funding for their STEM programs, etc.
SHPE DC first launched our Grant program in 2020, and then our Scholarship Programs in 2021, as part of SHPE DC's goal to build a STEM pipeline of support throughout one's educational and professional career. In total, SHPE DC offers 5 different scholarships and grants! We owe this effort in great part to our many partners and sponsors who believe in the mission and vision of SHPE - THANK YOU!

In 2020 Capitol City Robotics received SHPE DC’s $500 STEM Education Grant to purchase more equipment for their students to code and do research! On the day we visited, there were 18 second-fifth graders learning to code LEGO MINDSTORMS robots as part of their Advanced Tinker Club!

In 2016-2017, we awarded over $1,000 in scholarships and grants, which went toward a local FIRST Robotics team on their quest to competitions and to send a middle school student to Space Camp in Alabama for a weekend. We also partnered up with several organizations, such as the Hispanic Bar Association of DC, to fundraise over $1,400 for community organizations such as Farmworker Justice, the Employment Justice Center, and the Esperanza Education Fund.
